Last week, we looked at the sixth trumpet judgement, which is also called, "The Second Woe.” Talk about heavy … that was some hard content to digest, no doubt! However, we can clearly see that because evil exists in our world, the earth and its inhabitants will experience much pain in order to “birth” the new world where Jesus sets up His Kingdom and expels all evil forever. I like to think of it like childbirth since Jesus calls this time period “birth pains” in Matthew 24. There will certainly be labor and pain involved, but it’s important to keep your eyes on the prize — resurrection life and a new, perfect world where King Jesus reigns! We’ll read all about that at the end of Revelation, but until then, let’s talk chapter 10 …

This chapter is one of my favorite chapters in the entire book of Revelation! Chapters 10 and 11 are known as an interlude, which is a strategic pause. Like all good writers, John pauses at specific places in order to give his readers a chance to catch their breath in the midst of all the heavy judgment. Here, we learn of a “mighty angel” who comes down from heaven with a message (scroll) in his hand.

The question becomes, “Who is this mighty angel?” How you choose to answer that question will determine how you unpack the rest of this chapter. Let’s take a look together and see what we come up with. And as always, pray and ask the Holy Spirit to guide you and teach you as you read. I know who I think it is, but I’ll let you decide for yourself :)

Let’s dive in! …

Until next week,

Skye
